Living painting

Student city

Fourteen student associations and organisations make it cosy with student-like attractions such as beer pong, tie pulling and a (dry) rowing challenge. There are also substantive activities that highlight the importance of freedom and democracy. For instance interactive installations, stories from students about freedom and special collaborations with social organizations.

Line-up

13:00 Xando
Xando developed a love for electronic music at a young age, while listening to Le Parc by Tangerine Dream on full speakers with his father. Attracted by the deep grooves of House, UK Garage and French Touch, he focuses more on feeling the audience than on flashy effects. His sets flow seamlessly between different genres, creating an organic flow that keeps the audience moving. Although he initially had doubts about performing for strangers, he is now fully committed to making his mark on the scene.

14:00 Matta
Matta’s passion for music started at a young age with Spinnin’ Records in 2016. During the corona period, his love for house music grew, inspired by his first house party at Colorado Charlie. His sound is characterized by house music with sparkling electric piano and guitar sounds, supported by a tight, heavy bassline. Minimal house with conga loops appeals to him enormously. In addition to drums, bass and chords, he finds it essential to add subtle vocals, which fill the empty spaces and create extra energy on the dance floor. His journey started behind the decks with his best friend, but he wanted more – producing. Although he didn’t consider himself musical, he learned piano through friends and started producing in FL Studio. With patience and perseverance, he quickly got the hang of it and has now released his sixth single on all platforms. His ultimate dream? Playing at parties with an unforgettable atmosphere, where he can give his audience exactly what they need at that moment. Making people happy, so that energy hopefully spreads!

15:00 Les Sommeliers
“We are Les Sommeliers, aka Pepijn and Thimo, two friends with a passion for house music. Just like a sommelier chooses the perfect wine, we select the finest house grooves for the audience to enjoy. On May 5th, we share our love for music with a set full of great records and good vibes. Come dance and celebrate freedom with us!”

16:00 Jonna
Jonna is an all-round DJ, known for his energetic sets that are a mix of urban, house and high-energy dance bangers. With his own unique edits, remixes and bootlegs, he knows exactly how to get any audience dancing. With performances at festivals and in clubs throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Greece and Spain, Jonna has proven himself on the international stage. He also performed at the prestigious Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) and shared the stage with many artists. Jonna's performances are full of pure energy! His goal is simple: to give every audience an unforgettable experience and make them feel his passion for music.

17:00 Enzo Chase
Enzo Chase fell in love with electronic music after hearing Levels by Avicii, attracted by its energy and futuristic feel. His sound is a mix of tech house grooves, deep house vibes and melodic elements, with influences from jazz and cinematographic music. Originally from Denmark, he moved to the Netherlands to pursue his musical dream. Despite setbacks, he never lost his passion. Now he focuses on creating original productions and bringing fresh energy to the underground scene.

18:00 Dj’s with Aftritude
Danischka (18) and Kianna (16), known as DJ’s with Afritude, are two sisters from The Hague with a passion for music. Inspired by their father, a DJ, they combine Afro-Caribbean rhythms with modern beats to showcase their São Toméan and Curaçaoan roots. With their unique sound and energetic sets, they get every audience moving. Despite their young age, they are already playing at various events and are building a name for themselves in the scene. DJ’s with Afritude is the new generation to keep an eye on.

19:00 DJ KWS
“Music is in my blood. I grew up in a family where music is not a hobby, but a passion that brings us together. As a DJ, I don’t have a fixed playing style, for me it’s all about the audience. My goal is simple: to make people enjoy themselves and create an unforgettable atmosphere. My career started with small performances, but I am determined to break through on bigger stages. My versatility is my strength; I effortlessly mix different music styles, which makes my sets always surprising and dynamic.”

Freedom

The Hague, city of Peace and Justice is the perfect place to celebrate that we are free in the Netherlands and to show support for those who are not. The education institutions in The Hague want to contribute to this. The theme of freedom not only fits in seamlessly with our education and research, but also affects our students. We therefore want to celebrate peace with students, prospective students and all other interested parties, but also encourage people to think about what peace and freedom mean for everyone.
